My garden is growing great. It has really been hot here in Texas. Highs in the 80’s and lows in the 60’s. I had a big surprise this fall after I planted. I had a ton of “mystery plants” come up that I didn’t plant seeds for. I watched them for a while and was really perplexed as to what they were. They were in practically every bed! Every bed that is that I composted! I quickly found out that the mystery plants were tomatoes! I have over 20 tomato plants coming up. I finally relocated them to two beds and pulled the rest. I guess the seeds were saved in my compost and sprouted! fun! I love gardening! I hope I get a crop before winter comes.

One Response and Counting...

I been reading and following you about raised container gardening. I am handicapped and don’t do well with regular gardening so I started container gardening about 7 years ago. I keep looking to find out what the black tubs you are using, I have never seen anything like that before. I use one food grade white barrel, cut in half, length ways and holes drilled for draining; was lucky once and found a metal pipe frame and it fits perfect to my height. I guess you use what is available when on a fixed income but now the barrels are no longer available. Would like to find something durable that will last more than a couple years. We live in Missouri and the last few years we either are drowning with water or burning up. But with the raised bed I at least can use the Organic Potting Soil and feel safe in what I put in my smoothies, I love my kale (also, my middle name) and spinach, onions, herbs and tomatoes. This year we are trying our hand at thornless blackberries and Red Raspberries, Sweet Potatoes, two new Pear trees and two new Peach trees. Thank you for the inspiration on the sweet potatoes as my brother gave me some starts and told me that they are the easiest to grow and enjoy the vines and flowers! God Bless your green thumb!
