Aphids and bugs

  • As excited I am about Spring arriving, I don’t welcome the bugs that come with it. Winter time gardening is so nice to be almost bug free.  I check my garden weekly for bugs and try to stay on top of it. I went out of town last summer and had a few hundred thousand aphids attack my peppers and I could not get rid of them. I finally had to pull all my bell peppers out and plant something else. I learned my lesson about checking and treating for bugs.

If you only use organic methods, I applaud you – keep it up! I can’t beat the bugs by strictly using the soapy spray,or solely organic methods. If I have a problem that is serious I use sevin dust or liquid seven. I use it sparingly and find that it is safe for vegetable gardens. I found aphids on my spinach and sprayed them today. How to treat bugs in the garden is your personal preference, I just thought I would share with you what works for me. Good luck keeping your aphids and garden bugs under control.
