My garden gnome named Minipin

  • Every garden needs a gnome. I bought this gnome at Wal-mart last year and he found a home in my blackberry bush. I named him Minipin. As I have been a student teacher this past semester in the sixth grade, I have reflected on when I was in the sixth grade. I remember my reading teacher, Mrs. Wolfinger reading the book,The Gammage Cup, to us everyday in class. I loved it so much I later bought it for my oldest to read when she was in the sixth grade.  I hope to read the book to my future class someday. It is about a tiny people called the minipins, their struggle to survive and how they become everyday heroes. Minipin reminds me of reading and kids and fun times. If you enjoy reading or need a great adventure to read to your kids, I highly recommend The Gammage Cup by Carol Kendall.

  • Beth,
Ha! Glad to hear you like garden gnomes too!
Good luck to you with your garden,
    Melanie

  • I don’t have a gnome but now I think I need one. My fathers birthday is tomorrow and surprisingly enough I sent him home a gnome decorated in his favorite team attire (Yankees).

  • Pamela,
I haven’t seen the gnomes decorated in Yankees attire but it sounds as cute as can be and I am sure he loves it!
