Some things I grow in my garden

  • I am on a trip visiting my daughter in college, but was able to take some pictures of my garden before I left. Everything is growing and blooming in my garden.  It is hard being away… I miss it. My husband is taking care of my garden for me (he is amazing!) and he says the potatoes are ready to harvest when I get home!  I built an onion box for my egyptian walking onions and finally weeded my orange tree box. Lots more pictures too!

    If you are new to my site, here are the benefits to a unique new way to garden. I designed a new way to garden and have used this method for almost two years. I love it and think you might too!

    I had the onions in a bag for a few days before I built the box. I made this box out of cedar fence pickets. It is the cheapest way to build a raised bed box on the ground.

    Love seeing what’s going on in your garden. A navel orange tree – well call me jealous!

    Your cauliflower looks great, this year we’re growing 12 cauliflower plants, 12 broccoli, all from seed. It’s always amazing to see the cost comparison of a very cheap pack of seeds to a cauliflower head that is currently going for $4.99(!!) at my grocery store.

    Do you have any problems with aphids on your tomato plants?

    Hi! I don’t get aphids on my tomato plants. I do get them on my swiss chard, bell peppers and kale. I check every day for bugs and pick off and treat them so they dont move in to stay for a while. Good luck!

    Okay you have inspired me to start from seed next season. I just never know when to start the seeds and just pick up what I find at the store in the plants. After going through a year of seasons, and blogging with dates, I will have a better idea of when to plant – one great benefit of record keeping! Garden journals are a must. Take care!

    I like your garden ideas. I have a huge garden box but not the wire wall. I appreciate your efforts. I have copy your wire trellis. Happy harvesting all those gorgeous looking plants.

    Love your garden pics! This is my first year trying! I have straw bales that i have planted my veggies in. Kind of the same idea as raised beds. Love seeing what my veggies will look like! I planted lettuce, radishes, beets, broccoli, green beans, and cukes! So excited to see the results! Thanks again for sharing!

    Wow! I have heard of the straw bales and think they sound like a great idea! Good luck! Let me know how it goes and yes it is so exciting growing things. I never was good at gardening and always wanted to be able to garden so it is very exciting now to actually plant a seed and see it through the whole process to the table! I am so excited for you!     Hey! I have just built my garden and am so excited to start planting. Do you have tips on how many tomato plants you can put in each bin? Same for cucumbers. Also, I love your wire trellis. Did you build that or buy it somewhere? Thanks so much!!!

    Can u please tell me where u found the plastic insert in your tomatoe plants etc? Do you think a contractor bag would work ….how deep are they?
