My watermelon experiment

  • Last summer I tried watermelons, cantaloupes, and honey-dew. I made hammocks, beds out of t-shirts, mesh beds and all sorts of ways for them to hang from my trellis. All the melons grew misshapen and were small. I have an idea! I am growing melons this summer in my raised boxes but I hope for the vine to grow to the ground and have the melons sit there and get big. I planted all three types of melon seeds and they all have sprouted. When they vine to the ground, I will pinch off any flowers until the vine reaches the ground. I hope it works! Stay tuned to see. I planted carrots in the middle of the box and all the melons around the sides.
