Covering the garden when it is windy and cold

  • I made a post in December about covering my garden with the planket. I found the best deal to buy the planket at home depot. They come in three different sizes, but the ones I bought were 10 ft x 20 ft for $19.99.  They work great but when it gets really windy, it is hard to keep them on. A few years ago my mom gave me a big roll of elastic that she had left over from a project so I put it to good use in my garden. I made bands to hold on my plankets and they worked like a charm! I am hoping for warm sunny weather soon, I sure miss it when it stays cold and cloudy. I shouldn’t complain I know because so many other places are much colder this time of year. I hope the pictures help show how to secure the covers on the garden. I put one around the big tall trellis just after these pictures were taken. Thanks mom for the elastic! If you don’t have elastic, a rope will do just fine.

I tied them with loops and used a small bungie cord to secure it.
