Onions seeding

  • I noticed on Saturday that my onions had a bulb of seeds at the top. Last year when I grew onions, I used them all before they made a seed pod. I find nature fascinating and watching the growing process of anything amazes me. As of today the seed pods look different, so tomorrow I will update this post with some more pictures. I wrote earlier about Egyptian Walking onions and how they spread, but I honestly think this is one of the leeks I planted. They have all grown together so I am not for sure. I would like to make some room for yellow sweet onions, as Texas is known for growing the vidalia sweet or 1015 variety. I plan to look for some sweet onion seeds or small bulbs to plant this week. I use these all the time when I need green onions, I just trim what I need. I harvest the bulb also if I need one for cooking, but they tend to be a bit small.
